Plan to spend Sat. evening, Oct. 23, at Laredo’s renowned IBC Lago del Rio as IBC Bank hosts the 2010 Images for Conservation Book Dedication Party in honor of Renato Ramirez, CEO for IBC-Zapata.
The party, beginning at 4:00 pm, celebrates the release of Images for Conservation, Book Three: Borderlands of Laredo Edition, a vivid, full-color collection of over 300 photographs commemorating the spectacular wildlife of the Laredo area. A $50 ticket provides entrance to the event and supports the non-profit Images for Conservation, an organization dedicated to the conservation of private lands through the economically sustainable business of nature photography.
This Edition features the awe-inspiring work of 20 professional nature photographers from throughout North America and Europe. Each photographer was paired with a frontera-region ranch to create 20 competitive 2010 Pro-TourTM Photography Contest dream teams, which vied for $180,000 in prize money.
This year marks the 3rd bi-annual Pro-TourTM in Texas and the third time Images for Conservation has granted the William Henry Jackson AwardTM grand-prize to a landowner-photographer team. The award pays homage to the famous 19th-century photographer whose photos sparked interest in conserving millions of acres of American wilderness for future generations, including Yellowstone National Park. This year’s winning team fed that fire with images from Los Lazos, the Webb County ranch owned by Nick and Cindy Benavides and photographed by the Swiss-born Rolf Nussbaumer.
