The San Pablito Ranch, now 13,000 acres, was once a part of the historic San Pablo Ranch owned by Sarita Kenedy East. After Mrs. East's death in 1962, the ranch passed to her cousins who divided the ranch and Jim and Ann Gibbs began purchasing the ranch from the descendents of her cousins in 2001.
Located 15 miles south of Hebbronville, the ranch is in the middle of what was once called The Wild Horse Desert. Here the combination of a dry climate and sandy soil guarantees a wide variety of native grass and protein rich brush. Wildlife is abundant and the ranch is located in a natural flyway to Mexico, sending us many migratory birds.
The Gibbs approach to range and wildlife management is definitely "green". Natural methods such as control burning, mechanical clearing and disking are used to maintain grasslands. "We basically let mother nature take care of the mammals on the ranch...by the way she is doing a great job for us!" ~ Jim & Ann Gibbs
